What to look for when shopping for healing earrings ~ IN A NUTSHELL...Elemental Titanium & Niobium with NO added alloys.
HYPOALLERGENIC
is a generic term and can include earrings containing nickel or other
alloys that can slow down or prevent healing. Just be aware, and do
not put much importance on the word if you have metal sensitivities.
PURE TITANIUM is either Grade 1 or Grade 2, and should be listed as such. Grade 2 PURE TITANIUM earrings are becoming harder to find. If it is marketed as "Pure Titanium" and the description does not specify the grade, it can be assumed to be alloyed. If this is a factor in purchasing, contact the seller for clarification.
NIOBIUM is unalloyed and another option for highly sensitive ears.
Medical Grade Titanium (often advertised as PURE Titanium) and ARGENTIUM Silver
are alloyed, but do not contain nickel as an alloy, and can be worn by
many people with mild to moderate nickel sensitivities.
.9999 fine silver, although considered pure, is too soft to be worn as earrings, unless properly annealed.

HYPOALLERGENIC TITANIUM EARRINGS.com was
developed in 2010, a time when Titanium was starting to be recognized as
a metal that could be worn by highly sensitive people with metal
allergies.
Today, a search for HYPOALLERGENIC or PURE TITANIUM EARRINGS may
not be enough to find healing earrings that are truly non-allergenic. A
buyer needs to dig a little deeper to find earrings that will live up
to the claims...and at the very least, meet your expectations.
